Dear Residents and Friends: As I begin my first term serving as the Mayor of this great town, I must say that it is my honor and pleasure to serve the residents of Bellmawr. When I was administered the Oath of Office, on January 4th, being elected to the Office of Mayor for the Borough of Bellmawr-witnessed by my family, friends and co-workers-was an overwhelming experience I will never forget.
With over 40 years’ experience creating local ordinances to keep our town running efficiently, I plan to work closely with the residents, business owners, and developers. As Mayor, my door will always be open to new ideas and progressive thinking. I consider the most important issue facing the municipality today is the property taxes that are hurting our senior citizens and the new young homeowners trying to start their families in Bellmawr. I will work closely with our elected officials to consider a tax review that would help reduce taxes for all our residents.
My top priority will be to ensure a financially stable future for our town. I will work closely with Council to develop policies that generate revenues, while attempting to decrease taxes. The budget will be reflective of our shared priorities addressing property tax relief. I am very proud of Bellmawr’s leadership role in creating shared services with our neighboring towns and will continue to support these agreements, as well as encourage additional ones.
I will continue to promote economic development with the Bellmawr Waterfront Development. The process is 95% complete and I will work to bring the project to completion, as many businesses are waiting to come to Bellmawr and make it their home. Recently, Bellmawr Council passed an ordinance creating the Bellmawr Redevelopment Authority. The newly created authority is also committed to seeing this project through to completion. Coming soon there will be groundbreaking for the new walking track and park along the waterfront. I will actively work to pursue new businesses to our municipality to help ease the tax burden for our residents.
Together, with my colleagues on Council along with our dedicated Borough Employees working as a team, Bellmawr is set for transformation and we have an exciting time ahead of us.
Finally, I would like to personally thank Mayor Frank R. Filipek for his dedication and for tireless efforts over the past 29 years serving as a Councilman and as our Mayor these past 18 years. Thank you from a grateful town.
Yours in Service,
Charles J. Sauter, III
