[ARCHIVED] Bellmawr Fire Department receives 2 new trucks.

The Bellmawr Fire Department has taken delivery of 2 new pieces of fire apparatus. The first is a 2024 Pierce 75’ Quint. A quint fire truck is an apparatus that combines the equipment capabilities of a ladder truck and the water-pumping ability of a fire engine. As its name implies, it features five main tools to carry out firefighting functions: a Pump, a Water tank, Fire hose, an Aerial device and Ground ladders.

The second is a 2024 Pierce Squad or Heavy Rescue Pumper. This truck will serve dual functions as a pumper and a rescue truck equipped with all of the necessary tools to carry out all types of rescues.

Both trucks were ordered over 2 years ago. With rising prices in mind, the new trucks were made much more affordable with the trade in values of the trucks they replaced. The cost of both new trucks totaled $1,539,894.96. Three aging trucks being replaced were valued at $740,000.00 which given as a trade in brought the total the borough paid down to $799,894.96. In comparison, if both trucks were ordered this year the cost would have been close to 3 Million Dollars.

Have a look at both trucks at this year’s National Night Out on August 6th where they will be on display.

Mayor and Council would like to thank Chief Dan DiRenzo and the fire department’s command staff for their efforts in planning and evaluating the needs of the department that will best serve the community.
